Hypoglycemia is a condition that occurs when your blood sugar (glucose) is too low. The reason I am writing about hypoglycemia is because my mom has it. She has lived with it over 30 years. That is a picture of my mom.
Let me back up a minute and tell you about her before she was diagnosed with this condition. She would be talking on the phone…back then all phones had wires, so she would be in the kitchen. I would hear her fall and run in there. She would be past out on the floor cold. Now, I was a young fellow then. It scared me to death. Here lies my mom and she is not responding to me. She is breathing, but that is it.
The person on the phone told me to put a cold rag on her head, and she would be right over. By the time she arrived, my mom was coming to. What a relief
She explained to her friend that she had been to the doctor for this multiple times, but they found nothing wrong.
One day, while at work…she worked at a plant called Wix which made car filters, she fainted on the assembly line. They called 911 and she was rushed to the hospital. Still the doctors could not find anything. They told her to follow up with her regular doctor.
When she went to her doctor, he recently read a study on hypoglycemia. He did a 5 hour long test. She had to drink orange juice get her blood tested and then wait. She had to consume different items and then have her blood tested. He diagnosed her with hypoglycemia. The good news he said she could control it with diet.
She went to a dietitian. My mom would eat like half a candy bar while working and that was it until she had dinner. She learned she had to eat every three hours. That was a big change for her. She had to stay away from certain fruits, potatoes, white bread and rice. She could not eat her candy bars, which was a Reese Cup, anymore. That was a drag, because she would bring half of it home to me and my brother. She could only drink sugar free drinks. This the time when this woman would use a cup of sugar in a half a gallon of tea. BIG CHANGE.
The doctor told her that when she ate something with sugar her sugar would go really high then in would bottom out and that was causing her to faint. She had other symptoms as well: blurred vision, sweating, fatigue, and headaches. There are even more symptoms other people with hypoglycemia have experienced like confusion, ill feeling, nervousness,
rapid heart rate, trembling.
One more thing, my mom is 63 years old and has had hypoglycemia for over 30 years. She has never been overweight. In fact, her metabolism went up when she started eating every 3 hours and has stayed that way all these years. She has more energy than most people that are in their 20’s. We actually think her eating habits before she was diagnosed was the cause of her having this condition.
I hope everyone can understand that eating healthy will serve you right for years to come.
Yours in Love, Light and Prosperity,
Jaden
